About the Author
Kenneth Briggs has written about religion and culture for nearly forty years. His reporting for Newsday and The New York Times from the 1960's through the 1980's broke new ground for coverage of religion in American journalism. He has since contributed articles to numerous publications and taught courses in religion and journalism at Lafayette Collge, Lehigh University and Columbia University. His most recent previous book is Double Crossed: Uncovering the Catholic Church's Betrayal of American Nuns was published in 2006. He lives in Easton, Pennsylvania.
