John Waters is a filmmaker, writer, actor, and visual artist best known for his films, including Pink Flamingos, Serial Mom, and Hairspray, which was adapted into a long-running Broadway musical. The author of seven books, among them the New York Times bestsellers Role Models and Carsick, he performs his one-man, spoken-word shows regularly in the United States and abroad. Waters lives in Baltimore, Maryland.

A perfect graduation gift for the creatively disruptive young person afraid that entering the conventional world of work means selling out and betraying one's feistiness. Waters' advice is as applicable to the cubicle drone as it is to the artist. I only wish it were twice as long.
This was a wonderful find! My copy is also autographed - bonus!! This is the speech John Waters made at the RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) 2015 graduation ceremony - word for word. The speech was refreshing and well received by students, faculty, and parents alike. Witty and ascerbic - perfect for John Waters' fans and RISD students and alumni. Some copies are autographed when purchased from certain book sellers. Look around if you want an autographed copy.
Five star content, minus a star for Kindle format. I haven't seen a hard copy yet but I bet it's fantastic in that format (great graduation gift). In Kindle format, it's maybe a 5-minute read and neither black nor white backgrounds help visual content translate. I had prepurchased this so if I'd seen how it was, I wouldn't have gotten it in this format.
I love anything by Waters and this is no exception. This is a speech he gave at a college graduation. Very short, easy read, but a must for every Water's fan.
This is a GREAT book!!! John Waters uses personal anecdotes to encourage people to make the most of what life gives them and to seek out creativity in both themselves and others. Love it!!!!!
Nice to see someone thinks like I do about the absurdities of life but next time I will check the length. I was looking for a good read not a short speech. My fault for not reading the description better.

Words of wisdom from one of my heroes. Fun (and quick - honestly, I was expecting more for $7.87) to read, and must have been more fun to hear him say in person.
